Quinoderm Creams – Dual Action

Our dual action creams combine antibacterial and peeling activity, breaking down skin cells and causing them to shed, to remove comedones, unblock pores and prevent excess sebum production. Its two active ingredients are described below:

Benzoyl peroxide kills Propionibacterium acnes (P. acnes), the bacteria associated with acne. P .acnes feeds on sebum produced by the sebaceous glands in the skin. During an acne outbreak when there is an over-production of sebum, P. acnes produces waste products and fatty acids which irritate the sebaceous glands, making them inflamed and causing spots.

Benzoyl peroxide offers a multi-faceted approach to the treatment of acne, not only does it clear pores and reduce bacterial count it also acts directly as an antimicrobial agent. It helps to reduce blemishes by increasing skin turnover and preventing excessive sebum production. Both of these actions guard against future comedones and reduce both inflammation and the tendency for the follicle to become blocked.

Potassium hydroxyquinolone sulphate is a derivative of the quinolone family of antibiotics, whose antibacterial activity reinforces the properties of benzoyl peroxide. It helps kill the bacteria and fungi on the skin surface which has caused acne or folliculitis.

Quinoderm Facewash – Dual Action

The Quinoderm Facewash is a cosmetic SKU with different, yet still effective active ingredients to our creams. It contains 0.15% chlorhexidine digluconate and 1.5% mytrimonium bromide. Chlorhexidine digluconate is an antiseptic / antibacterial, anti-fungal and desloughing agent, which kills bacteria and removes build-up of dead skin cells which can block the sebaceous glands and cause black heads and spots. Mytrimonium bromide is an effective antiseptic which also thoroughly cleanses the skin.
